NEW YORK - Police say a man jumped to his death from the sixth floor window of his Manhattan apartment and a woman was found stabbed to death inside.
The two lived together in the building located at 210 Sherman Avenue in Inwood.
Sources tell NY1 the two were husband and wife.
Police found 72-year-old Campo Elias Albuja-Montalvo lying on the pavement outside the building just after 10 p.m.
Inside the apartment, officers found 78-year-old Francia Walsh on the sofa in the living room with multiple stab wounds.
They were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Sources say it looks like a possible murder-suicide.
People in the building heard a loud banging sound and say it was the man removing the bars from his apartment window so that he could jump.
"I couldn't sleep last night. I can't. I heard the noises in this apartment I think she is crying because he died. But when the police came by - I said oh my God I can't believe it," said one tenant.
Walsh's death has been deemed a homicide.
Investigators say a knife was recovered from the scene.
