New Yorkers can now get a rare look at another chapter in the life of civil rights leader Malcolm X.

Never before seen parts of Malcolm X's original autobiography manuscript are now on display at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

The New York Public Library runs the center.

The exhibit features an unpublished chapter from the autobiography.

In it, the civil rights leader expressed his thoughts on what it was like to be African American during the 19 60s.

It also features discussions Malcolm X had with his editor, Alex Haley.

"It gets to see a little of Malcolm X's mind by seeing up close these manuscripts. You also get to see his changes, quite literally, his changes to the manuscript. But Malcolm X is also evolving, " said Kevin Young, Director, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

New pages from the deleted chapter will be on display every week through mid-November.
