NEW YORK - Renovations are underway at Central Park's iconic Belvedere Castle.

That means it's now closed to visitors until next year.

Park officials say crews will be assessing the overall condition of the structure and its terraces.

They will also modernize systems that support the building's preservation and use.

Additionally, an accessible route to the castle will be created as well.

The Belvedere Castle is one of Central Park's most heavily visited destinations.
