The world's tallest college dorm has opened its doors.
The ribbon was cut for Pace University's 34-floor facility at its Manhattan campus.
The student housing at 33 Beekman Street is currently the tallest in the world.
"It's not a traditional college experience. You're not living in that normal, three-story dorm. We're in resident halls that are really tall," said Zach Rivera, a resident assistant at Pace University. "And it just gives you kind of a really great sense of where you are and a really great feeling of being in New York City."
"With the completion of this building, we now have 2,500 Pace students resident in Pace dorms here in New York. And in the year 2000, there were only 500," said Stephen Friedman, president of Pace University. "So this is a very major step into the future for us."
Views of the Financial District and Brooklyn Bridge can be seen from the top floors.
The dorm also includes a large kitchen and a 24-hour gym.
