A man is dead after being hit by a SUV in Manhattan.
Police say the accident happened just before 10 p.m. Friday
Investigators say a freight truck and the SUV were traveling south on Eleventh Avenue when they hit each other at West 42nd Street.
Officials say that's when the SUV drove up on the sidewalk, hitting 56-year-old Victor Grant of the Bronx.
Grant was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
One woman we spoke to said the intersection is very dangerous, especially at night.
"It's dangerous—the mornings not so bad, nighttime is bad at rush hour and all of the cars going into the Lincoln Tunnel. Also at night after the shows let out. They need to...they need to get a handle on this intersection because at night it's terrible. It backs up into the crosswalk," she said.
Police say that both drivers stayed on the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
