Mayor Eric Adams held his fourth State of the City address Thursday from the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. He laid out ambitious plans to tackle rising costs, housing, public safety and to get treatment for New Yorkers suffering from mental illness.
One idea mentioned was “The Manhattan Plan,” a far-reaching proposal to reform zoning in Manhattan and find ways to add 100,000 new homes.
Adams also talked about his administration’s plan to add 900 new safe haven beds to help New Yorkers living on the streets or in the subways find their way into shelters.
First Deputy Mayor Maria Torres-Springer joined political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday night to discuss some of the proposals.
