There was foot traffic on the Upper West Side Sunday for the Grand Holiday Bazaar. Around 200 vendors set up at 77th Street and Columbus Avenue for the holiday market.

Some vendors, like Nasira Kane from Harlem, said the market has boosted her business since she started a year ago. She sells her goods from Greensicle Cider Club every Sunday.

“It is a really good environment. The vendors are super dedicated to their crafts and it’s motivational to see,” Kane said.

Vendors were located outside and indoors, which customers said was helpful after rain came down Sunday.

Organizers said the bazaar is a great way to support local businesses.

“Holiday time is extra special because we have the perfect gifts. It’s one-of-a-kind items, hand-made items and vintage items,” said Ashley Halpern, marketing director & PR coordinator at Grand Holiday Bazaar.

Grand Holiday Bazaar is the holiday version of Grand Bazaar NYC, which is held each Sunday of the year. The weekly market has been around since 1979.

Halpern offered this advice for getting people the perfect gift.

“I really think a dual purpose gift, something that feels good to buy and something that feels good to give is a great way to go and I also think sometimes just shopping small,” Halpern said. “We have a great candle guy out there, ‘Glow to Grow.’ If you buy that candle, you burn it and get a mug after.”

Some shoppers lived in the neighborhood and were doing some shopping for the holiday season.

“I got a beret for a friend and a candle for a friend as well,” Jamie Sandberg said.

Vendors, like Kane, said they feed off the energy of the customers.

“It’s a beautiful thing. It makes it a lot easier for people to start and grow,” Kane said.

Dec. 17 is the last Sunday of Grand Holiday Bazaar. Grand Bazaar NYC is held every Sunday in the same place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

“My friend here is visiting me from Boston, so I want to purchase some gifts for him as well as some of my other friends,” Kevan Vasudevan said.
