A top police official involved in an ongoing FBI probe into corruption allegations files for retirement.

The NYPD says Deputy Inspector James Grant's request comes after 19 years on the force.

Grant worked at the 19th Precinct on the Upper East Side, and was stripped of his gun and badge last month.

There's been speculation over whether Grant took gifts including trips to Las Vegas with colleagues and two wealthy businessmen involved in the probe.

He's among four NYPD employees placed on modified assignment as a result of the investigation.

One officer has been fired for his alleged role in the scheme.
