In this Travel With Val report, Spectrum News’ Valarie D’Elia explains how you can learn to get away in a snap at the New York Times Travel Show.
Organizing a quick weekend trip and maximizing your precious time off is a valuable lesson to learn, and nothing sums it up better than the "36 Hours" column in the New York Tims travel section. But did you know the column is also available in book form Not only are there titles for weekend getaways in and around New York City, but the rest of the USA and Canada, and destinations as far flung as Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The editor of the "36 Hours" book series, Barbara Ireland, will be joining me at the New York Times Travel Show to share how the popular column made its way onto shelves. The seminar at 2:45 pm on Saturday January 28th is called “36 hours: New York & Beyond,” and will focus on some of my favorite destinations within easy reach.
As usual, the New York Times Travel Show takes place at the Jacob Javits Center, now easily accessible by the 7 train extension to the new Hudson Yards station. The show features more than 500 exhibitors, with plenty of deals floating around.
