With the many entertainment choices New York City has to offer, it can be difficult to make a choice. Look no further. “On Stage” host Frank DiLella has curated a list of “must-see” shows this week, directing you to the best of Broadway, off-Broadway and beyond.
“I Need That”
Screen legend Danny DeVito is back on stage this season opposite his daughter Lucy DeVito in the new play I Need That. Danny plays Sam — a hoarder of sorts who is facing eviction. I Need That is written by Theresa Rebeck. The show is currently in previews at Roundabout Theatre Company’s American Airlines Theatre.
“ALIVE! The Zombie Musical”
Switching gears to some spooky themed offerings — just in time for Halloween — don’t miss ALIVE! now playing at Theater 555. This new musical comedy about love, death and zombies is written by Broadway performer Josh Canfield and features Broadway regulars — Josh Lamon, Nic Rouleau and Kyle Selig. ALIVE! is playing through Oct. 16. For information, go to alivethezombiemusical.com.
“EXORCISTIC The Rock Musical”
Moving further downtown to The Box, check out EXORCISTIC The Rock Musical — the unauthorized parody of The Exorcist. EXORCISTIC The Rock Musical features powerhouse rock tunes performed by a company of musical theater vets including Jordan Donica, Marissa Jaret Winokur and more. For information on the show, head to hrsproductionsla.com.
Rockers on Broadway
This Monday, the Rockers on Broadway are having their annual concert. Featuring performances from Michael Ceveris, Adam Pascal and Constantine Maroulis. The music event will honor artists Melissa Etheridge and Rick French and will benefit the Path Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting arts education.
