New York state officials this month launched a new effort to aid LGBTQ domestic and sexual violence victims and survivors by extending access to programs and services.
The effort, through the Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence, is meant to make services more survivor-centered and trauma-informed.
Officials at the office are trying to both increase access and awareness for survivors of gender-based violence while also reducing barriers to programs when they are seeking safety.
Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence Executive Director Kelli Owens in a Capital Tonight interview on Tuesday discussed the program and how it can help survivors and victims.
