The campaign arm of the Democrats in the state Assembly is set to report having $4.6 million in cash on hand as the focus turns toward the general election in November.
The Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee has raised $1.83 million over the last six months, a pace that has helped give the conference a record amount of money in the bank. The previous record-high balance for the Assembly Democrats' war chest was $3.7 million.
Primaries for state Assembly races concluded in June, and Democrats are running in what is expected to be a tough political environment nationally. For general election campaigns, that could mean defending seats in suburban and upstate communities in New York.
Still, Democrats are in little danger of losing a majority they have held since the post-Watergate era in the 150-member chamber with 107 seats in their column.
