At the last news conference held before congestion pricing takes effect, MTA and city officials unveiled one of the Congestion Relief Zone signs that can now be seen at various entrances to Manhattan south of 60th Street.

Local representatives and MTA employees touted the implementation of the tolling program and shared their hope for its success.

MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber also addressed how any issues with the rollout would be handled.

“We’ve got a whole back office operation that has actually been running for some weeks now, looking at the images as cars pass under. We just haven’t been sending bills out and charging it to people’s E-ZPasses. That’s the major thing that’s gonna change. So we do have people monitoring the cameras and seeing how everything is working,” Lieber said. “It’s not some dramatic flip of a switch.”
