GREENVILLE, S.C. — Several schools in Greenville County have been added to the state’s list of underperforming schools.
These include, Alexander, Armstrong, Duncan Chapel Elementary, as well as Hollis Academy, and Tanglewood Middle School.
The Greenville County Board of Trustees says some schools were also on the list in 2023. Those schools include Lakeview and Berea Middle schools, as well as, Berea, Carolina, and Southside High schools.
According to the South Carolina Department of Education, in order for a school to be considered underperforming they must have a below average or lower overall rating on the state’s report card.
District leaders say they do have a plan to get the listed schools back on track. This includes investing in after school programs, better instructional materials, goal setting, and more. The goal is to target core subjects such as math and English language arts performances.
