CHARLESTON, S.C. — According to an Associated Press report, Boeing plans to lay off roughly 10% of its workforce including over 200 Charleston employees.
This comes as the company continues to lose money following a strike that crippled the production of the company’s best-selling airplanes.
New CEO, Kelly Ortberg, allegedly told staff in a memo on Friday that the job cuts will include managers, executives and employees.
As of early 2024, Boeing South Carolina’s workforce totaled roughly 7,800 employees. The company has about 170,000 worldwide.
Since 2019, the company has lost more than $25 billion.
