LARGO, Fla. — The Pinellas County School Board approved a new instructional calendar.

The changes ensure that students meet state requirements for instructional time. The new schedule addresses time lost due to Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

Superintendent Kevin Hendrick said they needed to adjust days to make up for classes missed during the back-to-back hurricanes.

Students will attend school on Jan. 6, 2025, which was a designated makeup day, and Feb. 17, 2025, which will be a hurricane makeup day. 

And then the last day of school, May 29, will be a full day instead of an early release day.

The School Board also agreed to waive first semester exams to add four days of instruction back to the calendar.
