Law enforcement officials on Friday took materials from the home of one of Mayor Eric Adams' top officials.

Neighbors told NY1 that police in unmarked cars arrived at Ingrid Lewis-Martin’s home in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, as early as 6:30 a.m. on Friday. Law enforcement activity began at the home hours later, around 11:30 a.m.

Lewis-Martin is the chief adviser to Adams, who was arraigned in Manhattan federal court Friday morning on charges that he accepted bribes and illegal campaign contributions from foreign nationals.

  • In a statement, Lewis-Martin’s attorney said Lewis-Martin “has been served with a subpoena from the Southern District of New York and her phones were given to the New York County District Attorney’s Office"

Adams has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A number of officials with badges were seen exiting the home with boxes, some of which were labeled “documents” or “electronics.” Law enforcement agents took the boxes to several cars parked on the street before driving away with them.

The cars had placards that said “District Attorney.” The Brooklyn district attorney’s office later said it was not conducting law enforcement activity at the scene.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office declined to comment.

In a statement provided to NY1, Lewis-Martin’s attorney, Arthur Aidala, said Lewis-Martin “has been served with a subpoena from the Southern District of New York and her phones were given to the New York County District Attorney’s Office.”

“She will cooperate fully with any and all investigations and Ms. Lewis is not the target of any case of which we are aware,” Aidala said.

Lewis-Martin joins a number of Adams administration officials who have had their phones seized. She is one of the mayor’s closest advisers, typically sitting to the left of him at his weekly off-topic briefings.

She has known Adams for years, and is known as one of his closest friends. Adams and Lewis-Martin’s husband served in the NYPD together.

It is not clear what law enforcement officials took from Lewis-Martin’s home. There are multiple concurrent investigations into the Adams administration being carried out.

It was not clear if Lewis-Martin was home as the activity was being conducted Friday. NY1 rang the doorbell at the home several times, but Lewis-Martin did not answer.

She has not been at the mayor’s off-topic briefings for several weeks, with City Hall telling NY1 she was taking a vacation.

In conversation with City Hall earlier on Friday, City Hall told NY1 Lewis-Martin was coming back into the country.
