The amusement park’s technical team told inspectors the ride had been ascending when operators found a crack on the chain sprocket in its motor room and stopped it, according to the DOB.

Several people were removed from the ride, but no one was injured, the DOB said.

The DOB said it hit Luna Park with two violations, for failing to maintain the ride and for failing to notify the agency about the incident.

NY1 has reached out to Luna Park for comment.

The Cyclone will be out of service until it is repaired and the DOB signs off after a re-inspection, the agency said.

The popular wooden roller coaster, which is a city landmark, first opened to the public in 1927. The ride reaches 60 mph and is the second-steepest wooden roller coaster in the world, according to the Luna Park website.

Marcie and Jeff Levine had planned on celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary atop the Cyclone.

“We were really talking about it. Like, we gotta go on the Cyclone and everybody was excited to go and now we’re disappointed,” Marcie Levine said.
