A U.S. news and World report determined Barnes-Jewish Hospital is among the top 50 in the nation for 11 specialties.
BJC ranks in the top 25 in seven categories, including a rank of 23 nationwide for cancer treatment and 16 for neurology and neurosurgery.
It was also ranked 22 in the nation for both gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, as well as pulmonology and lung surgery.
Patients gave the hospital four out of five stars for their experience according to the report.
Nearly one fourth of BJC’s patients are on Medicaid, and over 40 percent of the medical and surgical patients were from vulnerable neighborhoods.
