New Yorkers marched through the streets of Brooklyn on Saturday in solidarity with Palestinians.
Marchers started demonstrating outside the Brooklyn Museum and then rallied at Grand Army Plaza and Barclays Center. They eventually walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, closing the bridge to traffic.
Organizers said the demonstrations were in response to Israel reportedly cutting off communications in Gaza. The organizers said they asked demonstrators to “flood” Brooklyn for Gaza.
The Associated Press reported that Israel launched an expanded ground operation on Saturday after creating a near-blackout of communication in the Gaza Strip with increased bombardment and artillery fire overnight.
The Palestinian death toll passed 7,700, most of them women and children, according to the Health Ministry in Hamas-ruled Gaza. In the occupied West Bank, more than 110 Palestinians have been killed in violence and Israeli raids.
