BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The bold rumble of a Corvette engine is a sweet sound to Bob Bubnis. He’s the curator of collections and exhibits manager at the National Corvette Museum.
This year, one exhibits he is bringing to the world-renowned museum is “Custom Carismatic: the Legendary Creations of Carl Casper.”
Casper, a Michigan native and custom car builder, created the Batman Returns Batmobile, the Popcorn Wagon, the Turbo Shark Corvette, and the Paddy Wagon, all of which will be on display at the exhibit starting March 10, 2023.
“[We want to] show his impact on the world and through Hollywood. It’s a way to being people together and celebrate the work of this one incredible person,” Bubnis said.
And for fans of superhero movies, Bubnis, an enthusiastic Batman fan, believes that iconic car is a significant representation of “Batman Returns.”
“To celebrate that aspect of automotive history is a lot of fun and kind of represents what we’re all about here at the museum,” Bubnis said.
Bubnis believes showcasing Casper’s mark on the car-world embodies more than the automobiles themselves.
“It’s just a testament to anyone who believes in themselves and wants to do great things with their lives, so I think that’s one of the great angles of the shows,” Bunis said.
He hopes the new exhibit can serve as a point of inspiration for visitors near and far.
“I hope, and Carl hopes too, that people, especially young people, walk through this exhibit and feel inspired to do great things with their lives too,” he said.
Bubnis, Casper and the rest of the staff at the National Corvette Museum are helping to shift 2023 into a gear that movie fanatics and car lovers will enjoy.
Besides “Custom Carisma,” the National Corvette Museum is celebrating its 70th anniversary in June. To find more information about these two exhibits, click here.
