BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department says a man is in custody after opening fire Thursday night outside Peter Luger Steakhouse in Brooklyn, striking two people eating outside one of the city’s oldest restaurants.
Authorities say just before 10 p.m., Arkies Sommerville, 24, got into a family argument while dining inside the Williamsburg restaurant.
The fight then spilled onto the street at which point police say Sommerville fired shots at his cousin, but instead struck two men dining outside.
The two victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition and are expected to be okay.
Sommerville reportedly fled the scene but was arrested by police soon after. A gun was recovered from the scene.
Charges against Sommerville are still pending.
