The Windsor Terrace resident says she used to work in the fashion industry in styling and production before the pandemic hit, and $1,400 would go a long way.

“So much of that was in person, and that just kind of went away overnight, like for everyone it was really dramatic and unanticipated,” she said.
Taffel is one of the many New Yorkers eagerly awaiting their payment as part of the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill President Joe Biden signed last week.
Biden said Monday 85% of American households will get some form of payment by the time the federal dollars are distributed.
“The American Rescue Plan is already doing what it was designed to do, make a difference in people's everyday lives,” Biden said. “And we're just getting started.”

For Taffel, the stimulus money can’t come soon enough. While she is exploring other career options, the last two stimulus checks have helped her pay her rent.
“A lot of people are like, ‘Ugh, I got it!’ Or ‘Yay, it’s coming on the 17th!’ And not to brag, but they were excited. But that just makes you more stressed cause you’re like — happy for you! But what’s going on?” she said.
