North Brooklyn Mutual Aid, in partnership with the Community Education Council, is hosting a device drive to bring hundreds of students laptops, iPads, and chrome books. They are being collected for 30 schools within Greenpoint and Williamsburg. Those with North Brooklyn Mutual Aid say one school alone has more 100 students still in need of a device. The group says when they saw some students were still without, they wanted to do their part as neighbors to help.
"Knowing that the aid that is needed came from your community and your neighbors is huge in just helping reinforce that we're all in this together. It's not a charity. It's not something that we're doing as anything outside of solidarity. We're just here for each other," said organizer Marissa Jones.
