BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Authorities in Brooklyn are investigating after a 10-year-old child was fatally struck by a school bus Tuesday morning.
Fire officials say it happened around 6:45 a.m. at the corner of Crescent Street and Wortman Avenue in East New York.
According to police, the young girl was crossing Wortman Avenue in the crosswalk when the bus struck her while making a right turn.
The child was taken to Brookdale Hospital with head trauma and later pronounced dead.
Police say the 61-year-old driver remained at the scene.
