Certain animal urban dwellers are much like the average New Yorker. Raccoons stay up late at night, and are plenty resourceful.
October 1 is International Raccoon Appreciation Day.
Many people refer to these animals as a nuisance and should be left alone if seen, especially in the daytime. The camp of New Yorkers who find raccoons adorable are invited to celebrate raccoons at Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn.
Participants can draw raccoon art durings its chalk rally. Chalk will be provided.
