In celebration of Fleet Week, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream has teamed up with the most iconic animated sailorman of all-time, Popeye, to create a limited-edition spinach vegan ice cream flavor.

Popeye is celebrating his 90th birthday this year, so the flavor is called Popeye’s Fleet Treat and like the rest of the company's ice cream it's made in small batches at its facility in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

The flavor will be available through June 2nd and only at select Van Leeuwen scoop shops including South Street Seaport (224 Front Street), SoHo (61 West Houston Street) and Hudson Yards (20 Hudson Yards, Level 3). While supplies last.

The ice cream starts with Van Leeuwen’s vegan base featuring housemade raw cashew milk, coconut cream, raw organic coconut oil, pure cocoa butter, and organic cane sugar.

Then, to infuse the spirit of Popeye into the mix, the ice cream base is blended with Organic Spinach, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Turmeric, and Sea Salt.
