Plans are in the works to revitalize a Brooklyn neighborhood.

The city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development has drawn up "The Brownsville plan" with local residents.

More than a billion dollars will be used to create 2,500 new affordable homes — and more than $150 million will help renovate the neighborhood's parks.

The plan also calls for a new neighborhood health center and a community center for teens.

Most of the projects are slated to be completed or underway within the next five years.
