RUSSIA, N.Y. -- Police have released the names of the two men killed in a head-on crash in Herkimer County last week.
The accident happened on Route 8 in the town of Russia shortly before 11 a.m. Friday. Police say 56-year-old Steven Bachrach of Cold Brook was driving southbound when he crossed into the other lane. He collided head-on with 68-year-old Thomas Flansburg. The crash caused Flansburg's pickup truck to roll over the guard rail, where it caught fire.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
