NY1 Brooklyn reporter Jeanine Ramirez picked up an award from a Brooklyn nonprofit Thursday night.
Southside United is dedicated to preserving quality affordable housing in South Williamsburg.
The group presented Jeanine with a community recognition award, citing her efforts to bring attention to issues facing the neighborhood.
"My job is to make sure that we level that playing field, to make sure that your stories are out there and to make sure that people understand what is happening in the communities and know that the sense of community here is so strong that it needs to be, that story needs to be told again and again and again."
Southside United has worked to develop affordable housing since its founding in 1972.
The group also operates a senior center and food pantry.
