It’s a major victory for Mayor Eric Adams.
Judge Dale Ho dismissed the federal corruption case against Adams Wednesday, and he did so with prejudice, meaning the charges are permanently dismissed and cannot be revisited at a later date.
Judge Ho did not grant the Justice Department’s request to drop the charges without prejudice, meaning they could be brought up in the future — something Judge Ho wrote in his 78-page decision, “smacks of a bargain.”
Adams was indicted in September on federal bribery, fraud, and conspiracy charges for allegedly soliciting donations from Turkish nationals. His case was set to go to trial this month, at the peak of the mayoral primary campaigning season.
Jeremy Saland, former Manhattan Assistant District Attorney and current criminal defense attorney, joined “News All Day” on Wednesday to discuss what this ruling means, and how the case shook up the DOJ.
