SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Three brush fires in the same general area scorched about 10 acres Wednesday alongside the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway in the Santa Clarita area.
The fires were reported late Wednesday morning near Placerita Canyon Road, in an area where temperatures topped 100 degrees.
Firefighters on a mutual-aid assignment from Los Angeles city and county and Angeles National Forest crews held the fires to about 10 acres total, according to Angeles National Forest officials.
As a precaution, the California Highway Patrol closed the two right lanes of the northbound 14 Freeway, a closure that was expected to continue through Wednesday afternoon, according to the CHP.
Investigators were seeking the cause of the fires.
