AMHERST, N.Y. — Usually bulls get going when they see red. Some Bulls that are seeing Blue, in the stands, and that's helping power their success this season.

There's one thing, if you haven't heard, that you need to know about “MACtion.”

"On any given night, anybody can beat anyone and how fun it is," said University at Buffalo guard Chellia Watson.

The UB women's basketball team hit their stride early, and good things come to those who have a higher number on the scoreboard when the clock strikes 0.

"Team camaraderie, community camaraderie and university support has been tremendous," said Head Coach Becky Burke. "We've seen our crowds grow every single game. And it's easy to get behind a team that's having success and winning."

But how does this happen for this team? Local talent, a coaching staff in their early years and everyone on the hardwood buying in.

"Coach wants us to be defensive-minded, so we need that first to even be on the floor to gain points," said Watson.

Sure, the season hasn't been perfect but as we see time and time again, a good team will learn.

"That loss we had against Ball State, knowing how much growth we need to, you know, have going into the tournament because, you know, we’re seeing what happened," she added.

The Bulls have got some banners hung, but want to start with a conference title and go from there, this and every season.

"We don't have to be the best right now. But playing them got us a good perspective," noted Burke.

"I just think we're getting so much better offensively," said Burke. "Our team chemistry is getting better. Our goal is to be playing our best basketball come MAC tournament time and give ourselves a chance to win."

Coming up sooner and sooner is tourney time and UB is dialed in.

"We want a MAC championship," said Burke. "And that's how we're wired. That's how we operate. And that's where our mindset is."

So the rest of the season looks bright. Lights, camera, MACtion.
