An MTA bus was towed away Monday evening after crashing into a pillar in the Bronx earlier, police said.

Surveillance video shows the Bx32 bus striking the pole at Jerome Avenue and East 181st Street in University Heights.

At least 13 people were taken for treatment, according to police.

People in the community say it is an unusual sight.

“This is the first time I see it and I’ve been living in this neighborhood for 25 years,” Derwin Vega, who lives in the neighborhood, said.

The NYPD said six people were taken to BronxCare and seven people to St. Barnabas Hospital, and they are stable.

Other commuters voice concern.

“It does make me feel different and kind of scared. What if I’m in a bus and it crashes,” Naomi Hernandez, who commutes on the Bx32, said.

An MTA spokesperson told NY1, “The incident is under review and the bus operator is being withheld from duty pending a complete investigation.”

According to the MTA, NYC Transit maintenance investigators have detected no damage to the impacted subway pillar and there is no interruption to the subway service.
