A man is recovering in the hospital after he was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver while riding a bus in the Bronx on Monday, officials said.

“I thought it was a fight, not a stabbing. And then when I go inside the bus, I see all the bleeding,” Ina Bercibal, a witness, said.

MTA officials said the stabbing happened shortly after 2 p.m. on East Fordham Road near Marion Avenue.

Bercibal was working at a nearby store when she heard a commotion coming from the bus.

“There were people coming out of the bus and there were people screaming saying someone got stabbed,” Bercibal said.

Sources told NY1 the man who was stabbed was drumming on his lap. That’s when the suspect got annoyed and began an argument.

Bercibal said she jumped in to help the injured man.

“He was bleeding like crazy,” she said.

According to police, the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and is expected to survive. Meanwhile, the suspect fled the scene.

It’s unclear if the victim and attacker knew each other, officials said. No arrest has been made.
