Gobike said it has been robbed on Wednesday.
The non-profit bike shop said its Buffalo Community Workshop, located at 98 Colvin Ave., was broken into, with somewhere around $8,000 worth of bikes and power tools taken. Gobike said that two to three people broke windows on the side of the building to gain access to the shop.
"The 98 Colvin Community Bicycle Shop has been robbed, and unfortunately it was a big one," Gobike said on social media. "The evidence left behind suggests 2-3 people parked a truck near Nichols School on the other side of the railroad tracks, then proceeded to break through the windows we had already secured on the outside and inside of the building.
They took all of our power tools, 20 bikes that our paid staff and volunteers had worked on this entire winter to be ready to give away this spring, and dozens of new tubes, handlebar grips, lights, and new tires. We've lost about $8,000 worth of capacity to serve our community."
Gobike is now asking for community financial support to get the shop back on two wheels.
"We could really use your financial support to get the Colvin shop back on its feet, able to serve as many people as possible - from the average bike enthusiast, to the individual who is just in need of a stable mode of transportation," Gobike continued.
