He will assume the new role effective July 1 if a permanent superintendent is not chosen by then.

This comes after current superintendent, Tonja Williams Knight, announced her retirement at the end of the school year.

Williams Knight was appointed to the position in July 2022 after serving in an interim role following Kriner Cash's resignation earlier that year. She has worked for the Buffalo Public Schools for more than 30 years in various roles, and also attended school in the district growing up.
