MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting a pile burn Monday at Sunnyhill Restoration Area in Marion County. The burn will be located on the North Tract of the property.

The burn is necessary to safely dispose of accumulated hurricane debris from the property. Prescribed fire and pile burns are important land management tools that reduce wildfire risk and enhance habitat by clearing excess vegetation and debris, district officials said.

The district follows strict safety guidelines and works in coordination with the Florida Forest Service to ensure the burn is conducted under optimal weather conditions to minimize smoke impacts.
