Two young girls and their mother are dead after being struck by a car Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, police said.

The victims, ages 5, 8 and 34, were killed in a crosswalk at the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Quentin Road in Gravesend around 1 p.m., the NYPD said.

The mother's 4-year-old son, who was also hit, was hospitalized in critical condition, according to police. A total of 10 people, including six children, were hospitalized, the NYPD said on Saturday night.

On Sunday, the NYPD announced a slew of charges against 32-year-old Miriam Yarimi, including three counts of second-degree manslaughter, four counts of second-degree assault and one aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Police say Yarimi was driving an Audi sedan north on the parkway and struck the rear of a Toyota Camry as the Camry was turning onto the parkway from Quentin Road.

The impact pushed the Camry aside, while the Audi continued forward, striking the mother and her three children before overturning, police said.

Police didn't immediately release the names of the victims. Yarimi was hospitalized in stable condition.

The 62-year-old Camry driver was in stable condition after the crash, police said, while four other passengers in the Camry — an adult and three children — suffered minor injuries.

"This is extremely concerning and painful, not only to the city of New York in general, but specifically to a very close-knit community, Mayor Eric Adams said at a news briefing on Saturday. "A mother going for a simple stroll on a sunny day was struck and killed."

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said on Saturday speed may have been a factor in the incident. Police ultimately charged Yarimi with two speeding offenses and for failing to yield right on red.

A breath test was administered to assess whether Yarimi was intoxicated, Tisch said.

"This was a horrific tragedy caused by someone who shouldn't have been on the road," Tisch said. "A mother and two young children killed, another child fighting for his life. A family and a neighborhood devastated in an instant."

Police said the information they provided was preliminary, adding that their investigation is ongoing.
