Spectrum presented a $10,000 grant on Friday to the Metropolitan Ministries.

The organization says it serves more than 100,000 meals to those in need across the Bay area each month.

It is hoping to expand its efforts into Pinellas County.

Metropolitan Ministries says the donation will help support its Hunger Relief Network.

"And this is how we're able to most effectively deliver food to those who need it, in the various capacities that it could be. Whether it's a hot meal for someone who is hungry, or whether it's a box of hope for a family in need," said Patrick Davis, Associate Director of Development, Metropolitan Ministries.

The grant is part of the Spectrum Employee Community Grants program which launched in 2019.

The program has provided funding to more than 430 local nonprofits across 33 states.

Spectrum is the parent company of Bay News 9.
