Steve McLaughlin will seek reelection as Rensselaer County executive, county Director of Operations Richard Crist announced Wednesday.

The Republican and former state assemblyman will announce his bid for a third four-year term at a campaign event at 11 a.m. Thursday in the TurnKey Office Solutions in North Greenbush, according to Crist.

McLaughlin moved into the executive office in 2018, replacing Kathleen Jimino. He put modernizing the county at the top of his agenda.
