ST. LOUIS—High traffic numbers have prompted St. Louis County to temporarily pause the Senior Property Tax Freeze system after it was bogged down by a high volume of users on Wednesday.
The application process is expected to come back online at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18. Software developers are working with the county to upgrade the system.
Seniors will still have plenty of time to apply as the deadline isn't until June 30, 2025. As of Oct. 1, 2024, more than 30,000 applications have been submitted.
Those who already have appointments with the Department of Revenue over the next few days should keep those appointments.
The department can accommodate those residents. Otherwise, the system will be shut down. That means no one can apply online or in person at one of the county’s buildings.
You can learn more about signing up for the tax freeze on the county's website.
