At least one person knows what happened to twin infant boys discarded near an alley behind a building in the Concourse section of the Bronx four years ago.
“The person who did this. We’re open to a conversation. We’re not here to judge,” Detective Brianna Constantino said.
The case has gone cold, but Constantino and Detective Shamika Thomas are holding out hope someone will come forward.
What You Need To Know
- On Friday, community members came together to hold a memorial to keep the twins' memory alive and their case in the public eye
- The memorial came a week after a newborn baby girl was found discarded in another Bronx neighborhood
- Anyone with information can still give an anonymous tip to the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS
“I think the community is just as eager as we are,” Thomas said.
The detectives gave the infants the names Zeke and Zane.
On Friday, they came together to hold a memorial to keep the twins’ memory alive and their case in the public eye.
“We want to know what happened and there are a lot of people who want answers,” Constantino said.
The memorial came a week after a newborn baby girl was found discarded in another Bronx neighborhood.
That newborn was found discarded in Soundview, also near an alley, according to officials.
The investigations are ongoing, police said.
Officials say they hope soon-to-be parents understand there’s a way to legally abandon a newborn baby.
“You can go to a police precinct. You can go to a firehouse. You can go to a hospital, no questions asked,” Constantino said.
The parent must notify an appropriate person where the baby is, and they won’t be prosecuted.
“Hopefully, this case brings a lot of that to light,” Thomas said.
