COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus police officer, Andrew Mott, was killed in a fatal motorcycle accident in Delaware, Ohio, while heading home from work Wednesday morning, according to a press release from the Columbus Division of Police.

The release notes that he spent the last five years of his life serving Columbus residents.

“We ask you keep Officer Mott’s family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Division of Police in your thoughts and prayers as we all grieve this sudden loss,” the release reads.

In a Facebook post from the police department, they said Mott "exemplified professionalism, respect, integrity, dedication and enthusiasm."

"Officer Mott's legacy will endure through the lives he positively impacted and the countless individuals he helped during his service," the post reads. "He will not be forgotten, and his memory will continue to inspire us all."
