CLEVELAND — Cliff Paugh is never done working on this 1950 Mercury Coupe.

What You Need To Know

  • Cliff Paugh owns several classic cars

  • His 1950 Mercury Coupe belonged to a friend who passed away
  • He inherited the car and is reminded of his friend every time he revs it up

“This is one of five vehicles I have," Paugh said.

It’s likely the most memorable one he has since he inherited it from his friend Bob after he died.

“It had been sitting for 13 years, and we were able to rescue it from a building in Madison, Ohio, and it took us about $2,500 bucks to get it back on the road," Paugh said.

The original paint is still there, and the features still work.

“I’m gonna keep it the way it is," Paugh said, "until I’m forced to change it.”

He decided to display one of his classic cars at the Cleveland Auto Show every year. It’s a way to keep this generation of innovation alive.

“Can’t beat the classics," Paugh said. "I love 'em. Every time I take one of these out for a drive, people wave at you they give you a thumbs up.”

He said it’s what his friend would have wanted, and he’s reminded of his friend every time he revs it up.

“Everytime I come out in the garage, I think about Bob," Paugh said. "He was such a wonderful guy.”
