A 15-year-old boy is dead, and another teen is injured, after they were shot Thursday night in front of a Police Athletic League facility in the Bronx.
According to the NYPD, the teenagers were leaving a community basketball game organized by the police around 9 p.m. Thursday when an argument broke out between two groups of people.
Police said it appears one person opened fire.
The 15-year-old was shot in the head, authorities said. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition, but authorities said Friday that he has died.
The second teenager, a 16-year-old boy, was shot in the leg and is expected to recover.

Yolanda Santoni said the boy who suffered a gunshot wound to the head knew her children.
“All I know is he was a good kid,” Santoni said.
Raymond Arroyo, president of the 41st Precinct Council, a community organization that works closely with police, said he was at the location just before the shooting.
“You know, these two children, my understanding is, you’re part of the foster system. You know, they’re already extreme challenges in their lives. And for them to come to this program for help and not get it is going to be a big impact on them going forward,” he said.
“They don’t deserve this. They look at this as a home where they could play. They could enjoy friendships, they can enjoy conversating with adults if they have anything that they would like to get out of their chairs. And I express my feelings because every child should feel that there’s a place for them,” said Millie Colon, vice president of the 41st Precinct Council.
Community organizers said they will work with police to make sure the facility remains a safe space for everyone.
Santoni said her son is distraught, and she’s hoping something is done so she never has to share news like this again.
“My son is devastated, and I haven’t [broken] the news to my other son that it was his classmate,” she said.
