It’s not your ordinary classroom. The space lab at Goldsboro Elementary school is Artemis themed.
Robert Wakelyn is the teacher that keeps the lab going. He completely transformed this space to help teach the young explorers about the historic mission taking place basically in their backyard.
“There, there is the flight plan. It is about a nine-minute video,” explained Wakelyn.
Robert is helping these students understand the purpose of this mission and all the roles required to help get people back to the moon. He said all the information that fills his classroom comes from NASA experts.
“All of these are straight from NASA. I printed them. So we have them up,” added Wakelyn.
He said this mission has a lot to it, and he is breaking it down so students in every grade level, from kindergarten to fifth grade, can understand what is happening.
“What I like is the fact that the Orion they are doing so much when Artemis gets up there,” said the elementary school teacher.
From watching and learning about the flight path to understanding each element of the mission, Robert hopes to inspire the next generation of future astronauts that he said could go to the Moon one day and maybe even Mars.
