BUFFALO, N.Y. — TIME Magazine is highlighting teachers in the U.S. making a difference in their students' lives. And one of them is from the Buffalo Public School District.

Fatima Morrell has been named the magazine's list of innovative teachers.

She gives the students lessons on equity and appreciation of different perspectives through an anti-racist curriculum which she created in 2020.

Morrell says following the Tops mass shooting it is more important now than ever to spark conversations about the legacy of racism in the U.S. and offer students diverse perspectives and more lessons about the historic contributions of Black, Latino and indigenous communities.

Just ten teachers from across the country, including Morrell, were named to the elite TIME'S list.
