BRONX, N.Y. — A man is facing kidnapping charges after police say he tried to abduct a 3-year-old girl in the Bronx on Monday.
The NYPD says Santiago Salcedo, 27, is charged with kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and endangering the welfare of a child.
Investigators say Salcedo grabbed the girl as she was walking with a relative just before 1:30 p.m. near East Tremont and Baisley avenues in Schuylerville.
Police say passersby intervened to stop Salcedo.
He was later arrested after police found him sleeping in the doorway of a restaurant.
