Strength, teamwork and collaboration – those are some of the values NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey talked about as he led a 'Unity Walk' in the Bronx yesterday.

It’s part of a series of events he's holding to strengthen the bond between officers and the community.

“In moments like this we realize there is more that keeps us together than that divides, us so let’s continue these conversations, let’s continue to work together. It doesn't have to be something at this scale, just our everyday conversations, our everyday interactions, let there be moments where it’s more important to be together than be apart,” Maddrey said.

The NYPD is also holding its Fourth Gun Violence Town Hall this week, in light of the recent spike in crime. It'll be on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Bronx. There will also be a number of activities and games.
